About the position

The Innovation Scientist will focus on technology development and innovation within the company, working on new product and process development, optimizing operational costs, and supporting existing products. This role involves extensive research, collaboration with universities and suppliers, and effective communication of findings to stakeholders. The position operates under the guidance of the Director of R&D/Innovation and requires a strong background in chemical formulations and polymer technologies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct innovation research and collaborate with universities and startups to identify new technologies.
• Research and develop new products and processes.
• Create and implement new tests to support product and process development.
• Manage existing formulations and research new ones.
• Act as a technical resource for answering technical questions.
• Drive product technology advancements by investigating and integrating new materials and processes.
• Communicate project status and results effectively through meetings, reports, and presentations.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science and Engineering, Material Science & Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Five years or more of experience as an R&D Chemist in an R&D facility, particularly in polymer or polymer composite product development and processing.
• Expertise in chemical formulations and knowledge of existing product line formulations and raw materials.
• Experience with analytical, mechanical property, and chemical processing equipment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in rubber sheet product development or thermoplastic sheet product development.
• Knowledge of polymer materials and compounds.
• Familiarity with laboratory information data systems.
