About the position

The Staff Interior Designer/Space Planner will be responsible for preparing designs, specifications, and conceptual estimates for interior work related to government, airport, and commercial facilities. This role involves creating and implementing interior design and space planning strategies to ensure project completion and fluidity.

Responsibilities

• Prepare designs, quantity calculations, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings for interiors of aviation and/or federal facilities.
• Compile data and provide elementary design computations.
• Assist with the preparation of internal design plans and renderings.
• Manage furniture purchasing and reconfiguration.
• Research interior design products and make recommendations.
• Develop and select color, finish, and materials.
• Recommend new ideas, formulas, and methods.
• Lead construction administration activities through site visits and review of schedules.
• Maintain conformance with building standards, established architectural practices, and applicable building codes.
• Comply with all policies and standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or similar field is required (CIDA accredited Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design is highly preferred).
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in Interior Design or a similar field of study.
• National Council for Interior Design Qualifications (NCIDQ Certification) is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge with Revit and other 3-D visualization software such as Enscape and/or Lumion.
• Knowledge of Interior Design specifications, calculations, industry standards, and visual, written, and oral communication skills.
• Expert in the use of computers for making architectural drawings, calculations, and 3-D visual simulations.
• Knowledge of architectural principles and theory associated with project design and construction document production.
