About the position

The Staff Java Developer will lead a team of contractors within the Store Systems department, focusing on the checkout systems, particularly self-checkout. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership skills, with an emphasis on mentoring team members and overseeing architectural decisions. The developer will be hands-on with coding while ensuring the team operates independently.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of contractors within the Store Systems department.
• Mentor team members and conduct code reviews.
• Engage in performance conversations with team members.
• Make architectural decisions regarding existing systems.
• Support store systems, specifically in checkout and self-checkout.
• Oversee POS and self-checkout systems.

Requirements

• 8+ years of Java experience.
• Experience leading team members (ideally at least 5+) including mentoring, code reviews, and performance conversations.
• Architectural experience with the ability to make decisions regarding existing architecture.
• Hands-on coding experience in addition to leadership responsibilities.
• Experience in retail, e-commerce, payment, and checkout systems.
• Expertise in Spring Boot.
• Experience in Cloud (GCP preferred).
• Expertise in Kubernetes and cloud concepts.
• Heavy experience in payments, checkout, and POS systems.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate within an agile environment.
• Proactive nature to drive initiatives forward.
