About the position

The Staff Linux Systems Administrator at Northrop Grumman is a senior-level role responsible for managing and maintaining classified Linux environments for large government contracts. This position requires a subject matter expert who can oversee system implementation, ensure compliance with information systems standards, and enhance system performance and security. The role involves significant collaboration with stakeholders and requires on-site presence at the Linthicum and Annapolis Junction campuses.

Responsibilities

  • Perform as consulting Senior Lead Linux Administrator and subject matter expert for a large, classified government contract(s).
  • Obtain and analyze internal and external customer requirements, recommend equipment and software as needed, and oversee system implementation and accreditation.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders in written and verbal formats.
  • Ensure all aspects of large IT projects are completed independently or assigned to others as necessary.
  • Track project status and support as needed.
  • Implement system enhancements that will improve the performance, reliability, and security of the system including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.
  • Develop and maintain technical processes and procedures as needed.
  • Travel as needed.
  • Lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Work after hours and weekends as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree with 14 years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 12 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 10 years of experience, or a PhD with 8 years of experience; a High School diploma or equivalent with 16 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree.
  • Experience operating under and managing systems within current applicable information systems compliance standards.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining classified Linux environments.
  • Experience with VMWare implementation, migration, and maintenance.
  • Experience with NetApp and/or Nutanix implementation, migration, and maintenance.
  • Experience with system design and architecture.
  • Current DOD Top Secret level security clearance, including SCI access and a recent Polygraph (adjudicated within the last 5 years), or must be enrolled in the DoD Continuous Evaluation (CE) Program.
