As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer/Architect, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence R&D strategy. Your primary focus will be to personalize the Qualtrics experience by leveraging ML and AI features, showcasing our data as a core value proposition and competitive advantage. In this role, you will work in a supportive environment that fosters individual growth and team success. You will collaborate with peers to prioritize features and deliver value to our customers with a sense of urgency. Staying abreast of technology trends will be crucial, as you will educate leadership and stakeholders on these trends and our North Star initiatives. You will provide mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth. Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you will implement, tune, and productize cutting-edge machine learning models to meet the demands of our rapidly growing business. Your efforts will align machine learning initiatives with business objectives, demonstrating their potential impact through detailed analyses and presentations. Your responsibilities will include designing and developing robust AI architectures, frameworks, and algorithms that support large-scale enterprise SaaS AI solutions. You will evaluate and select appropriate AI technologies, tools, and frameworks to achieve desired performance, accuracy, and scalability. Collaboration across the company will be essential as you guide the direction of machine learning at Qualtrics, spanning teams from research to production. You will communicate effectively with research scientists, product managers, and engineers, leading the documentation of AI architectures, design decisions, and technical specifications for knowledge sharing. Additionally, you will work closely with research scientists and model engineering teams to develop and deploy ML systems in production, optimizing models and systems for performance, scalability, efficiency, and cost. You will offer technical supervision to the ML platform teams and lead the creation of future ML platforms for deploying and monitoring AI models while ensuring compliance with best practices in machine learning and deep learning. Regular code reviews and providing technical guidance to team members will also be part of your role. Staying updated with the latest advancements in AI technologies, frameworks, and algorithms will be crucial as you identify opportunities for their application within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop robust AI architectures, frameworks, and algorithms that can support large-scale and complex enterprise SaaS AI solutions in alignment with business objectives.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate AI technologies, tools, and frameworks to achieve desired performance, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Collaborate across the company to guide the direction of machine learning at Qualtrics, spanning teams from research to production.
  • Communicate with a team of research scientists, product managers, and engineers and lead and document AI architectures, design decisions, and technical specifications for reference and knowledge sharing.
  • Work closely with research scientists and model engineering teams on developing and deploying ML systems in production.
  • Develop a strategy for optimizing models and systems for performance, scalability, efficiency, and cost.
  • Offer technical supervision and direction to the ML platform teams and lead the creation of future ML platform for deploying and monitoring AI models in production settings while maintaining compliance with the best practices in machine learning and deep learning.
  • Conduct regular code reviews and provide technical guidance to team members.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI technologies, frameworks, and algorithms, and identify opportunities for their application in the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (6+ years) working as an AI architect, Machine Learning Engineer, or related role.
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning, deep learning, and NLP.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++, and popular AI libraries and frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras).
  • Experience designing and implementing large-scale AI solutions, including data ingestion, storage, processing, and deployment.
  • Solid understanding of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and experience deploying AI models on these platforms.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to break down complex problems into actionable components.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to stay updated with the latest AI technologies, frameworks, and platform advancements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of deploying and optimizing LLMS with open-source frameworks like DeepSpeed, Accelerate, FasterTransformer, and Transformers-NeuronX libraries is a plus.
  • Knowledge of ethical considerations and responsible AI practices is a plus.
