About the position

As a Staff Engineer at Airbnb, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the Host and Guest experience by leveraging various machine learning models. This position involves collaborating with data science and engineering teams to develop and improve machine learning solutions that impact product and operational use cases.

Responsibilities

• Work with large scale structured and unstructured data.
• Build and continuously improve cutting edge Machine Learning models for Airbnb product, business, and operational use cases.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners including software engineers, product managers, operations, and data scientists.
• Identify opportunities for business impact and refine requirements for machine learning models.
• Drive engineering decisions and quantify impact of machine learning initiatives.
• Prototype machine learning use cases and iterate on requirements with stakeholders.
• Develop, productionize, and operate Machine Learning models and pipelines at scale, including batch and real-time use cases.

Requirements

• 9+ years of industry experience in applied Machine Learning with a BS/Masters or 6+ years with a PhD.
• Experience in both Natural Language Processing and Computer Vision.
• Strong programming skills in Scala, Python, Java, C++, or equivalent.
• Deep understanding of Machine Learning best practices and algorithms.
• Experience with technologies such as Tensorflow, PyTorch, Kubernetes, Spark, Airflow, Kafka, and data warehouses like Hive.
• Industry experience building end-to-end Machine Learning infrastructure and productionizing models.
• Exposure to architectural patterns of large, high-scale software applications.
• Experience with test-driven development and familiar with A/B testing.

Benefits

• Base pay range of $204,000-$254,000 USD.
