About the position

The Staff Machine Learning Engineer at FIS Global will play a crucial role in developing a new financial technology platform. This position involves leveraging machine learning algorithms to address various fraud-related challenges, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the quality and security of data and models. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a passion for problem-solving, and a commitment to innovation in the fintech space.

Responsibilities

  • Understand business objectives and develop ML algorithms to achieve them.
  • Build prototypes and proof of concepts to determine feasibility and drive data-based decisions.
  • Run experiments to assess performance and improvements.
  • Provide ideas and alternatives to drive product features.
  • Define data and feature validation strategies.
  • Deploy models to production systems and monitor them for performance and troubleshooting.
  • Design, build, and manage data pipelines and infrastructure for processing large volumes of data.
  • Develop, deploy, and scale machine learning models and applications in production environments.
  • Ensure data quality, security, and availability for data, models, and applications.
  • Integrate ML models with the SaaS platform and other services.
  • Collaborate with data scientists to develop and test machine learning models.
  • Drive code reviews to ensure code quality and maintainability.
  • Provide live on-call support and own production issues from root cause analysis to resolution.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to bring ideas to life.
  • Build secure, robust, scalable, and performant systems for processing transactions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent education.
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience or advanced degree (master's or PhD).
  • Experience leading projects from architectural design to production.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with data management and building pipelines.
  • Experience with building and deploying machine learning models.
  • Experience with AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience or a combination of work experience and advanced education.
  • Deep expertise in at least one area of Machine Learning and AI.
  • Experience with financial services data sources.
  • Experience with MLflow and Feast or other Feature Stores.
  • Proficiency in modern development frameworks and languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go).
  • Experience leading and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and DevOps practices (CI/CD).
  • Strong understanding of security best practices for building enterprise applications.
