About the position

The Staff Machine Learning Scientist Intern position at Visa offers an opportunity for Ph.D. students to apply their deep learning expertise in the innovative field of payments technology. Interns will engage in projects that leverage Visa's vast datasets to develop AI solutions that enhance transaction security, improve fraud protection, and drive advancements in machine learning and data science. This role emphasizes collaboration, experimentation, and the application of cutting-edge AI techniques to real-world problems in the financial sector.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the team manager to propose work that integrates deep learning with team challenges.
• Execute the proposal through coding and design in Visa's engineering environment, culminating in a demo of contributions made during the internship.
• Promote and expand deep learning knowledge within the team and externally based on the work done.

Requirements

• Students pursuing a Ph.D. with a graduation date in December 2025 or later.
• Strong communication skills, with clear and concise written and spoken communication.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and MLOps.
• Hands-on development experience in modeling problems such as Predictive Modeling and Reinforcement Learning.
• History of published papers or conference presentations on Deep Learning.
• Experience in software engineering for large scale and low latency infrastructure.
• Familiarity with mainstream deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Understanding of Transformer architectures and their applications.
• Familiarity with advancements in LLMs and generative AI technologies.
• Expertise in programming languages such as Golang, Java, Python, or C/C++.
