About the position

The Staff Machine Learning Scientist Intern position at Visa offers an opportunity for Ph.D. students to apply their deep learning expertise in the innovative field of payments technology. Interns will engage in projects that leverage Visa's vast dataset to develop AI solutions that enhance transaction security, efficiency, and user experience. This role emphasizes collaboration, experimentation, and the application of cutting-edge machine learning techniques to real-world problems in the payments industry.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the team manager to propose work that bridges Deep Learning knowledge with team challenges.
• Execute the proposal with coding and design in Visa's engineering environment and datacenters, culminating in a demo of contributions made during the internship.
• Evangelize and grow deep learning knowledge within the team and externally based on the work conducted.

Requirements

• Students pursuing a Ph.D. with a graduation date in December 2025 or later.
• Strong communication skills, with clear and concise written and spoken communication that demonstrates professional judgment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in innovative areas such as Machine Learning, Deep Learning, MLOps.
• Hands-on development experience solving modeling problems like Predictive Modeling and Reinforcement Learning.
• History of published papers or conference presentations on Deep Learning.
• Experience in software engineering for large scale and low latency infrastructure for deep learning.
• Familiarity with mainstream deep learning frameworks (PyTorch/TensorFlow).
• Understanding of Transformer architectures and their applications.
• Familiarity with advancements in LLMs and generative AI technologies.
• Expertise in programming languages such as Golang, Java, Python, or C/C++.
