The Staff Network Engineer - Cloud position will focus on defining, implementing, and enforcing governance and standards for Inovalon's commercial cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI, and Snowflake. This role requires a good understanding of Network, Gateway, and Firewall infrastructure, virtual machines, storage, networking, and security. The right candidate will have proven experience in commercial on-prem and cloud Network design, DevOps, and the knowledge and interpersonal skills to help guide teams to improve their site-reliability. This position will split time between developing commercial cloud governance and standards, defining and implementing platform-level features, and supporting application engineering teams with application design and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Define, implement, and enforce governance and standards for commercial cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI, and Snowflake.
  • Apply commercial cloud best practices to design, develop, and implement AWS, Azure, and GCP platform-level features.
  • Design, build, and administer ASA FTD firewalls as well as on-prem ACI infrastructure.
  • Discover, review, and influence new and evolving design, architecture, and standards for building and delivering unique cloud-based infrastructure, applications, and services.
  • Collaborate with application engineering teams to create, monitor, and troubleshoot system infrastructure.
  • Be an expert in service reliability, sustainability, and efficiency, collaborating with product, application engineering, and security teams to ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements.
  • Investigate, design, and implement best-in-industry, innovative technologies that will expand Inovalon's infrastructure through robust, scalable solutions.
  • Champion the enterprise infrastructure vision and strategy.
  • Develop and execute designs for complex systems backed by excellence, confidence, and thorough engineering analysis.
  • Develop, gather, and leverage metrics to manage the Network and Firewall infrastructure to drive automation, improvement, and performance.
  • Maintain compliance with Inovalon's policies, procedures, and mission statement.
  • Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements as outlined within Inovalon's Operating Policies and Procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10+ years experience as a Network Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or Site Reliability Engineer.
  • Extensive knowledge of existing industry standards, technologies, services, and infrastructure operations of cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI, or Snowflake.
  • Extensive knowledge of infrastructure as code automation and continuous integration/delivery tools such as Azure DevOps, Azure Pipelines, Terraform, or similar.
  • Scripting experience with Terraform, Linux Shell, PowerShell, Python, or others.
  • Expert troubleshooter with a drive to solve difficult problems with scalable, elegant, and maintainable solutions.
  • A penchant for thinking outside the box to solve complex and interesting problems.
  • Impeccable creative and communication skills.
  • 8+ years of experience with Networking, complex computing platforms, and/or cutting-edge technologies involving virtualization, distribution, and high-performance Networks.
  • Manage stressful situations with calm, courtesy, and confidence.

Nice-to-haves

  • Extensive scripting experience strongly desired.
