About the position

The Staff Nurse II NICU Level III is a professional caregiver responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to a designated group of neonatal patients. This role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, ensuring adherence to safety principles and effective communication within the healthcare team. The nurse will work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to service orientation while participating in staff development and performance improvement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing assessment and data collection focusing on various patient statuses.
  • Formulate and implement goal-directed plans of care.
  • Establish patient care priorities based on needs and available resources.
  • Identify and address patient/family learning needs.
  • Demonstrate awareness of patient/family rights and cultural beliefs.
  • Coordinate care for patients and establish effective working relationships with the healthcare team.
  • Delegate and coordinate duties among healthcare team members.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by the healthcare team.
  • Utilize effective communication methods and skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safety principles and perform efficiently in emergency situations.
  • Participate in staff development activities and nursing research as requested.
  • Document patient care and unit activities accurately and timely.

Requirements

  • One year recent experience in Neonatal Level III nursery or completion of a KP NICU Training Program within the past 12 months.
  • Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program with required clinical experience hours.
  • Valid Registered Nurse License in California.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification.
