About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) II is a professional caregiver responsible for providing comprehensive care to a designated group of patients. This role involves utilizing the nursing process, therapeutic communication, and collaboration with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The RN II is accountable for patient assessments, care planning, implementation, and evaluation, while also advocating for patient rights and needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assessment/data collection systematically focusing on various patient statuses.
  • Formulate goal-directed plans of care when appropriate.
  • Implement care consistently and thoroughly based on patient needs.
  • Establish priorities for patient care based on essential needs and available resources.
  • Identify and address patient/family learning needs.
  • Demonstrate awareness of patient/family rights and cultural beliefs.
  • Provide and coordinate care for patients and patient populations.
  • Establish effective working relationships with healthcare team members, patients, and families.
  • Delegate and coordinate duties among healthcare team members appropriately.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by team members.
  • Utilize effective communication methods and skills in all interactions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safety principles and apply them in practice.
  • Perform efficiently in emergency situations following established protocols.
  • Participate in staff development activities regularly.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of legal issues related to patient care and confidentiality.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities as directed.
  • Engage in nursing research activities as requested.
  • Identify and solve problems effectively in the workplace.
  • Demonstrate a service-oriented philosophy in all interactions.
  • Provide data for staffing decisions and show flexibility in staffing issues.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer and telecommunication use for documentation.

Requirements

  • 1 year recent experience in a cardiac cath lab within the last 3 years.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program with required clinical experience hours.
  • Registered Nurse License (California).
  • Basic Life Support certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in CVICU, ED, ICU, or Interventional Radiology.
