Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to meet a variety of health care needs with a focus on ambulatory care.
• Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and security officers in a correctional environment.
• Function as a team leader as assigned.
• Demonstrate competency in assessing the physical health of adults and geriatrics.
• Identify inmate-centered goals and nursing objectives, implementing prescribed interventions.
• Provide direct and indirect nursing care to meet the needs of inmate-patients.
• Utilize effective communication skills to demonstrate respect and concern in all interactions.
• Promote a safe environment for providing health care to inmate-patients.
• Maintain current professional skills and engage in continuing education and professional development.
• Adhere to personnel policies to enhance the operation of the health care unit.
• Maintain required annual licensure and credentialing requirements for nursing personnel.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• LPN License to practice in the State of New Jersey.
• CPR Certification required.
• Valid Driver's License is required.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a correctional setting preferred.
