About the position

SCS Engineers is seeking a Staff Engineer in Wichita, KS, to engage in environmental consulting activities. The role focuses on civil and environmental services, particularly in landfills and related infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be a motivated quick learner who values teamwork and is eager to develop professionally. Responsibilities include project management, engineering calculations, and fieldwork, with a significant emphasis on design, permitting, and construction support.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and reviews engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and permit applications.
• Manage projects and personnel to meet both client and SCS expectations.
• Make independent decisions based on engineering or scientific problems and methods.
• Plan and coordinate work, representing SCS at meetings and conferences.
• Conduct fieldwork in varied terrain and weather, including surveys, data gathering, and construction quality assurance.
• Perform office-based tasks such as CAD drafting, mathematical calculations, report writing, and creating site plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related engineering major required.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience required.
• Professional Engineering license or progress toward a professional engineering license (i.e., E.I.T certification) preferred.
• Competent with MS Office and other software used in environmental consulting.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D design software is ideal.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with environmental consulting projects.
• Familiarity with landfill infrastructure and operations.
