About the position

Gusto is seeking a Growth Staff Product Designer to enhance user experiences that drive business growth. This role is pivotal in shaping customer engagement and acquisition strategies for diverse audiences, including employers, employees, and accountants. The designer will work closely with cross-functional teams to create data-driven designs that align with Gusto's commitment to trust-centered growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design strategy and execution for growth initiatives, focusing on key acquisition touchpoints across Gusto.com.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Product, Marketing) to craft and test data-driven hypotheses.
  • Drive personalized user journey design tailored to diverse personas and customer needs.
  • Develop and execute experimentation programs to optimize user flow and inform decisions.
  • Translate quantitative and qualitative data into actionable design insights.
  • Utilize Gusto's design system to ensure consistency across all growth-focused projects.
  • Advocate for customer-first, empathetic design thinking to maintain trust and engagement.

Requirements

  • 5-7+ years of experience in full-stack design, with a strong focus on growth and funnel optimization.
  • Proven experience designing complex, interconnected systems and products.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially within cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in translating research findings into design solutions.
  • Familiarity with service design principles and user-centered research.
  • Experience defining and prioritizing high-value projects that impact product roadmaps.
  • Ability to mentor and coach other designers is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • HR, Payroll, Healthcare, or Fintech industry experience is a plus, particularly in payments or risk management.

  • Cash compensation range of $147,000/yr to $199,000/yr in Denver & most remote locations, and $179,000/yr to $221,000/yr in San Francisco, Seattle & New York.
  • Office work expectations of 2-3 days per week for employees based in physical office locations.
