About the position

The Staff Product Designer for New Products at CNN will play a crucial role in developing innovative, standalone products that enhance user experiences and drive subscription growth. This position requires a strategic and creative individual who can collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate strategic initiatives into exceptional product designs, focusing on non-news experiences that enrich users' lives.

Responsibilities

  • Create non-news and standalone products that drive CNN's subscription business.
  • Partner closely with product, engineering, and senior leadership to translate strategic initiatives into product experiences.
  • Conduct rapid prototyping to test and validate product features and concepts.
  • Collaborate with product and user research on testing and research plans.
  • Manage projects and deadlines while being adaptable to changes.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience as a cross-platform product designer, with at least 4 years in native mobile experiences.
  • Mastery of Figma and prototyping tools.
  • Impeccable visual and interaction design skills.
  • Expertise in creating and modifying components using a mature design system kit.
  • Strong understanding of UX design practices, usability principles, and user research methodologies.
  • Solid understanding of mobile and web technologies.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with program management tools such as Confluence and Jira.
  • Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience.

Nice-to-haves
