About the position

The Staff Product Manager at EDB will drive the development of complex, data-intensive products for enterprise customers, focusing on distributed databases and high availability. This role involves collaborating cross-functionally to take product ideas from conception to production, ensuring customer feedback is integrated into the product vision, and leading initiatives that incorporate modern database technologies and AI into EDB's offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally within EDB across engineering, marketing, sales, and other functions to take ideas through the entire lifecycle, from ideation to production.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand and incorporate their feedback into the product vision while effectively evangelizing EDB's offerings.
  • Work with product and engineering peers to deliver the product's roadmap.
  • Maintain a prioritized backlog of features with clear acceptance criteria for the engineering team.
  • Support the Sales team by collaborating with product marketing and enablement to prepare the field for new releases.
  • Bring an inquisitive, innovative, and collegiate attitude to problem-solving.
  • Lead initiatives leveraging modern database technologies, including NewSQL and NoSQL, to build robust and scalable data platforms.
  • Drive the integration of AI and emerging technologies into product offerings to enhance capabilities.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success as a product manager for a complex, data-intensive offering with enterprise customers.
  • Exceptional communication skills, able to explain complex topics and provide audience-appropriate summarizations.
  • Solid understanding of modern product management principles and product development processes.
  • Solid understanding of database fundamentals (types, uses, and features of databases).
  • Experience with modern database technologies, such as NewSQL and NoSQL, and building data platforms.
  • Ability to think outside the box to bring innovative solutions involving AI and newer technologies into the product landscape.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA with a technical undergrad degree is preferred, but not required.
  • Understanding of the Postgres ecosystem, used/managed Postgres.
  • Knowledge of OSS and OSS communities (not just Postgres, though that's a double plus!).
