About the position

The Staff/Project Engineer is based out of the Midland Operations office and reports to the Engineering Manager. The Incumbent is responsible for design solutions related to either Project or Operational related needs as an integral part of a fast paced multidiscipline team.

Responsibilities

  • Attends daily operations meeting when on call.
  • Conduct field investigations for significant events that require engineering support.
  • Write technical reports as needed.
  • On call as needed.
  • Provides technical assistance as needed (drafting, calculations, regulation review).
  • Provide detailed engineering solutions for field/project issues as needed.
  • Meet with vendors to review progress on current activities.
  • Technical support for marketing initiatives as required.
  • Facilitate communication between technical resources and operations department.
  • Project planning, management, and tracking for the safe execution of projects within scope, cost, schedule and performance expectations.
  • Drafting of concepts for new construction, rig rebuilds or marketing.
  • Develop accepted concepts into working solutions.
  • Monitor third party vendors for work in progress.
  • Review projects/concepts with Operations.
  • Provide specifications/BOM/details to the purchasing group.
  • Select vendors for project construction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in related engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated abilities to work across multi-disciplinary teams that could include operations, leadership, engineering, regulatory, and others.
  • 3 Years of Experience within a drilling contractor environment or equivalent.
  • Training in Regulatory Requirements (BLM, API, Texas Railroad Commission).
  • Physical ability to Climb Masts and access hard to reach areas within Rig Structures.
  • Training/Understanding in a variety of drilling equipment and processes.
  • Training in necessary design codes (ASME B31.3, AWS, API, etc.).
  • Training / Experience using various CAD programs for design, analysis, and drafting (AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor experience preferred).
  • Effective verbal and written communication within a team environment.
