About the position

The Staff Psychologist-Director of Psychology Training Program at the Department of Veterans Affairs is responsible for managing the Psychology Training Program at the Northern Arizona VA Health Care System. This role involves overseeing program development, recruitment, and the quality of training for interns and externs, while also providing psychological services to veterans. The position requires a doctoral degree in psychology and a valid license to practice, along with strong leadership and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all components of the Psychology Training Program.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the training program.
  • Oversee recruitment and selection of interns and externs.
  • Maintain a comprehensive evaluation system for trainees according to APA guidelines.
  • Chair biweekly Psychology Training Committee meetings and annual selection meetings.
  • Monitor outcomes of the Psychology Training Program using data-driven quality assurance processes.
  • Provide psychological services including individual and group therapies.
  • Serve on various committees or task forces as assigned.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited program.
  • Completion of an APA or CPA accredited professional psychology internship.
  • Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a U.S. state or territory.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
