About the position

The position is for a Psychologist within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), responsible for providing a full range of psycho-diagnostic services and evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions to a diverse patient population. The role includes both clinical and administrative duties, ensuring compliance with VHA policies and contributing to the overall effectiveness of the Behavioral Health Service.

Responsibilities

  • Providing a full range of psycho-diagnostic services, including assessment and appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques.
  • Performing evaluations for a wide array of patients with diverse diagnostic entities.
  • Delivering evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, including individual, family, and group therapy.
  • Educating patients and their families about mental disorders and best practices.
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of mental health disorders using clinical interviews and psychological screeners.
  • Delivering various VHA-approved Evidence Based Psychotherapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
  • Utilizing telemental health modalities for patient care.
  • Complying with all Behavioral Health Service documentation requirements and standards.
  • Adhering to service policies and procedures established by Behavioral Health Leadership.
  • Assisting in the selection, training, and supervision of lower-grade staff as needed.
  • Participating in ongoing program evaluation and quality improvement projects.

Requirements

  • United States Citizenship is required.
  • Doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited program (APA, PCSAS, or CPA).
  • Completion of a professional psychology internship accredited by APA or CPA.
  • Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a U.S. state or territory.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Board certification by the American Board of Professional Psychology in a relevant specialty area.
  • Experience in conducting clinical research activities.
