About the position

The Staff Psychologist position at the Department of Veterans Affairs Tomah VAMC involves providing psychological services in the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic as part of an interdisciplinary team. The psychologist will conduct assessments, diagnoses, and treatment of mental health disorders, focusing on evidence-based approaches. This role also includes consultation with medical staff, program oversight, and participation in educational activities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct screening, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health disorders.
  • Provide psychological prevention services for individuals at significant risk for psychological problems.
  • Screen for cognitive deficits and determine the need for referrals for medical or neuropsychological evaluations.
  • Provide services to the families of Veterans as part of the overall treatment plan.
  • Administer and evaluate results of psychodiagnostic, intelligence, or personality assessments and tests.
  • Monitor treatment progress and recommend adjustments to treatment plans as appropriate.
  • Serve on committees, work groups, and task forces as deemed appropriate by the supervisor.
  • Maintain productivity and quality consistent with the complexity of the assignment.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited program (APA, PCSAS, or CPA).
  • Completion of a professional psychology internship accredited by APA or CPA.
  • Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a U.S. state or territory.
  • Ability to apply a wide range of professional psychological treatments or assessment methods.
