About the position
The Staff RN in the Cath Lab at St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee, Illinois, is responsible for providing direct patient care to adult and geriatric populations in a surgical environment. This role involves continuous communication with physicians regarding patient conditions, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring the readiness of equipment and supplies for procedures. The RN will also participate in quality improvement activities to enhance patient care.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care to adult and geriatric patient populations.
- Addresses psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment.
- Communicates continuously with physicians about patient conditions.
- Assists with the maintenance of equipment and inventory.
- Assesses procedure room or equipment functioning and readiness.
- Obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures the needs of the Cardiovascular Laboratory team are met.
- Monitors physiologic and hemodynamic data during procedures in the cardiovascular lab.
- Records patients' conditions continuously while in the Cardiovascular lab.
- Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Active state Registered Nursing (RN) License required.
- Current BCLS (AHA) and ACLS certificate upon hire and maintain current required.
- One (1) year clinical experience in a Cardiovascular Lab or in a Critical Care area required.
