About the position

The Staff RN in the DOU/Stepdown unit at Garden City Hospital is responsible for delivering safe and effective patient care through the nursing process. This role involves direct patient care, guiding nursing personnel, and ensuring high standards of care while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality. The RN will communicate with physicians regarding patient conditions and respond to changes in patient status.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice.
• Direct and guide patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel.
• Maintain standards of care in the DOU.
• Communicate with physicians about changes in the patient's clinical condition.
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.

Requirements

• Current valid State Registered Nurse License.
• Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current preferred.
• Minimum of one year experience as a staff RN in acute care hospital, critical care preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
