About the position

8CFAC, the inpatient Hematology/Oncology Unit at Froedtert Hospital is seeking nursing professionals to join our team. Highlights: 32 bed unit that serves Hematology and Oncology patients. Primarily responsible for managing treatment and complications of the Solid Tumor Oncology population, with the potential to treat patients with other cancers such as Leukemia, Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, etc. 3-4:1 patient to nurse ratio depending on every shift! Additional Oncology education and other professional development opportunities available during working hours. Dedicated, knowledgeable care team that provides top tier patient experience and satisfaction. The Registered Nurse is a practitioner who is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for an identified group of patients in an inpatient environment. This individual demonstrates competency in delivery of care to a primarily adult population.

Responsibilities

  • Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients.
  • Managing treatment and complications of the Solid Tumor Oncology population.
  • Providing care to patients with other cancers such as Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Multiple Myeloma.
  • Maintaining a patient to nurse ratio of 3-4:1 depending on the shift.
  • Participating in additional Oncology education and professional development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Clinical competence and experience in the care and management of target patient populations specific to area of employment.
  • Completion of education at an accredited School of Nursing to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent required within 90 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • Enrollment in a BSN (or higher nursing degree) program if not a BSN nurse with less than one year of licensed registered nurse experience.
