About the position
The Staff RN in the Med Surg Oncology unit is responsible for providing professional nursing care in accordance with established standards and practices. This part-time night position requires leadership skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team. The RN will develop individualized care plans, ensure patient safety, and maintain high standards of patient care while demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures.
- Lead the healthcare team, delegating tasks appropriately and demonstrating accountability.
- Develop and contribute to individualized patient care plans, ensuring they reflect assessment and evaluation outcomes.
- Monitor patient progress and revise care plans based on ongoing evaluations.
- Ensure effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members regarding care plans and discharge instructions.
- Participate in departmental performance improvement activities and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Practice customer service standards and ensure a clean, safe, and functional work environment.
Requirements
- Minimum six (6) months of experience in an acute or sub-acute facility within the last three (3) years.
- Valid Registered Nurse License in California.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Training or experience in chemotherapy.
Nice-to-haves
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Provider Certification within six (6) months of hire.
