About the position

Senspex in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, is seeking to hire a Staff Robotics Engineer for our Engineering Department! The Staff Robotics Engineer is responsible for the design and development of electro-mechanical components for thermal imaging and video camera vision systems. Key responsibilities include the development of power and switching mechanisms, motion/motor control, and sensing devices. This position is instrumental in developing the backbone of Senspex's imaging systems, enabling groundbreaking applications across various industries. Responsibilities

  • Design and develop robotic systems and equipment.
  • Develop, design, and troubleshoot robotic systems.
  • Design system architecture and components, including interfaces with sensors, users, machines, hardware, and software.
  • Create detailed design documentation such as schematics, drawings, and Bill of Materials.
  • Design and implement advanced motion control systems, including PID controller tuning.
  • Develop motor control algorithms to ensure precise and stable movement.
  • Integrate and optimize feedback systems for enhanced accuracy and responsiveness.
  • Provide engineering support to operations, project proposals, and business development.
  • Collaborate with engineers, customers, and vendors to provide design input.
  • Define input/output parameters and establish functional and technical specifications.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and design analysis to evaluate design concepts.
  • Operate computer-assisted engineering or design software.
  • Assist with manufacture, operation, installation, and repair of products.
  • Incorporate Senspex thermal imaging and electro-optical devices into custom systems.
  • Assist with establishing functional and technical specifications and standards.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations for operations and safety.
  • Support staff with special projects as needed and all other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other related technical field plus four (3) years of directly-related experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Knowledge of motion controls including electro-mechanical applications and programming.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience in any of the following: electro-optical sensor systems, electro-mechanical controls, PID controllers, testing and data analysis, and systems integration on moving platforms.
