About the position

The Staff Scientist - Mass Spectrometry (LCMS/ELISA) position involves exercising technical leadership in conducting complex chemical and biochemical experiments, particularly in the field of mass spectrometry. The role requires planning, executing, and documenting experiments, mentoring other scientists, and contributing to product and process development improvements. The successful candidate will innovate new techniques, interpret experimental results, and provide expert technical advice while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Exercise technical leadership in devising approaches to meet project objectives.
  • Plan, prepare, conduct, and record complex bench-level chemical/biochemical experiments.
  • Prepare reports and analyze results related to product/process development improvement.
  • Guide and mentor other scientists and project team members to accomplish project objectives.
  • Devise experimental plans to accomplish project objectives.
  • Innovate new techniques and devise novel strategies to better accomplish project goals.
  • Report status of assigned projects through detailed reports and documentation that summarize experiment results.
  • Interpret results of experiments and recommend alternative experiments.
  • Work within established parameters on individual assignments or as a leader for a project team.
  • Present experimental results to supervisors and project team members, contributing ideas to improve processes.
  • Provide leadership in technical decisions affecting product development issues.
  • Identify problems, investigate alternatives, and recommend possible courses of action.
  • Collaborate with team members and other personnel to meet department and project objectives.
  • Prepare and/or contribute to articles for publication and present information at meetings or conferences.
  • Attend technical conferences or seminars as a subject matter expert.
  • Support and comply with the company's hazardous waste management program.

Requirements

  • Five to seven years of prior relevant experience in an academic or industrial environment.
  • A distinguished record in either an academic or industrial setting, demonstrated through publications, patents, or developed technologies/products.
  • Ability to design and develop LC-MS/MS-based assays for biological specimens.
  • Experience optimizing assay parameters for high sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy.
  • Experience with relevant scientific computing applications.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret LC-MS/MS data to generate accurate results.
  • Technical competency to manage laboratory systems and troubleshoot LC-MS/MS instrumentation.

Nice-to-haves

  • GMP/QSR experience preferred.
