About the position

The Staff Service Consultant at CenterPoint Energy serves as a single point of contact for customer distribution projects, acting as a technical expert in the field. This role involves managing customer account relationships, overseeing project management from inception to completion, and ensuring customer satisfaction while adhering to safety and regulatory standards. The consultant is responsible for analyzing, designing, and preparing specifications and work orders for electrical services, demonstrating proficiency in various technical areas related to service consulting.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the subject matter expert for assigned location and assist in training others.
• Manage accounts with customers to develop business plans that meet their needs.
• Represent the company in service extension negotiations regarding service locations, requirements, costs, and construction timeframes.
• Gather, analyze, and design distribution facilities, determining customer electrical loads and metering requirements.
• Create construction plan documents, including material and labor estimates, and prepare construction sketches and layouts.
• Evaluate compliance with governmental regulations, code violations, and company standards, and negotiate corrective actions with customers as necessary.
• Perform proactive follow-up with customers regarding their satisfaction with project work.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in construction science, construction management, engineering, or technology preferred.
• Minimum of eight years of experience in construction management, construction engineering, or construction technology.
