About the position

The Staff Software Backend Developer at Extreme Networks is responsible for designing, implementing, and testing new features for the ExtremeCloud Applications and Platform. This role involves translating business requirements into technical specifications, writing clean and scalable code, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. The position emphasizes innovation, scalability, and performance in cloud-based networking solutions, contributing to the company's mission of empowering various sectors through advanced technology.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business requirements into technical requirements.
  • Write clean, reusable, scalable, and secure code for deployment adhering to standard methodologies.
  • Create and review technical documentation and specifications as necessary.
  • Design solutions, establish best practices, and introduce/implement new technologies.
  • Design systems that are scalable and performant to handle increasing user demands.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality, security, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with a team of developers, architects, and product management to create web and mobile applications.
  • Provide technical leadership for the development team in customer-facing interactions and sprint delivery.
  • Deliver applications based on pre-existing wireframes, designs, or client requirements.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience as a backend developer with advanced backend skills (Docker, Kubernetes, GlusterFS, Clustering).
  • Solid knowledge of algorithms and design patterns with coding experience in GoLang, C, Java, and Python.
  • Experience building high-scale, concurrent, and cloud-based secured web applications with APIs and interfaces (REST, NETConf, JSON, Yang, OpenConfig, OpenAPI).
  • Strong experience with relational and non-relational databases (MySQL, MariaDB, GORM, Redis).
  • Familiarity with event-based architecture and experience in RabbitMQ, Kafka messaging services, GNMI, GRPC.
  • Deep understanding of web performance and web accessibility, including security protocols and technologies (IAM, RBAC, Certs, AAA, HTTPS).
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ability to work with global teams across time zones.
  • Self-starter attitude with the ability to make decisions independently.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related degree.
