About the position

The Staff Software Development Engineer - Backend at CVS Health is responsible for the techno-functional impact analysis, design, and code construction activities associated with the development of software releases for the CVS Retail Pharmacy systems. This role requires strong technical, functional, and interpersonal skills to successfully collaborate with various stakeholders and deliver innovative solutions in Java-based applications. The position involves participation throughout the entire development life cycle, ensuring efficient solutions while identifying and mitigating risks before deployment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct techno-functional impact analysis for software development.
• Design and construct code for CVS Retail Pharmacy systems.
• Collaborate with development managers, business analysts, architects, and project managers.
• Deliver business change and innovation in Java-based applications.
• Participate in the entire development life cycle of products.
• Identify and mitigate risks to products before deployment.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software development experience in enterprise/web applications.
• 7+ years of experience as a full stack developer in Java-based technologies with a focus on backend.
• 5+ years of experience with Azure, GCP, or other public cloud services, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and CI/CD practices.
• 5+ years of experience with Agile methodologies and familiarity with product management tools such as Jira or Confluence.

Nice-to-haves

• 3+ years of experience in Retail Pharmacy or Healthcare domain.
• Master's Degree.
• Extensive experience with software engineering best practices.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud computing, and microservices architectures.
• Ability to influence and inspire teams to align technical direction.
