About the position

Walmart Marketplace is seeking a talented Staff Android Developer to join our team in Sunnyvale. This role involves developing and shipping commercially available Android applications using Kotlin/Java, with a focus on high availability, performance, and scalability. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in building Android applications and will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance the user experience for both customers and merchants.

Responsibilities

• Designing and developing innovative applications for the Android platform.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and define app functionalities.
• Troubleshooting issues and ensuring high-performance application software.
• Utilizing expertise in Android SDK, various Android libraries, databases, and network protocols to create robust and scalable apps.
• Defining, designing, and shipping new features in accordance with coding standards.
• Contributing significantly to the overall development of the organization's mobile application portfolio.

Requirements

• B.Tech. / B.E. / M.Tech. / M.S. in Computer Science.
• 10 - 14 years of experience in design and development of highly-scalable applications.
• 9 - 10 years of experience in building Android applications.
• 7+ years of demonstrated end-to-end experience building, testing and shipping commercially available Android apps.
• Strong knowledge of Kotlin/Java and Android SDK.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services.
• Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices.
• Well versed in TDD, BDD methodologies and enabling tools like JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber.
• Experience with CI/CD development environments/tools: Git, Maven, Jenkins.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in Computer Science or related area.
• Knowledge of accessibility best practices and WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
