The Data Infrastructure team is looking to hire a Staff Software Engineer who is excited to tackle large-scale batch and streaming data challenges. Reddit's mission is to bring community and belonging to everyone in the world, and with over 50 million people visiting 100,000+ communities daily, it serves as a platform for diverse conversations ranging from pets to parenting, skincare to stocks. As a Staff Engineer, you will lead your team in the design and creation of the Snapshot product, which is essential for delivering high-quality data to partners. You will collaborate with various teams across Reddit to develop and execute strategies that ensure data quality and consistency at scale. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include contributing to the long-term strategy of the team and organization, refining and maintaining data infrastructure technologies to support real-time processing for hundreds of millions of users, and owning the tools used for data ingestion, storage, and quality improvement. Additionally, you will mentor other engineers on designing, building, and promoting services utilized by external developers. The role requires a strong background in coding, with at least 7 years of experience in a production setting, writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code. Excellent communication skills are essential for collaborating with stakeholders in engineering, data science, machine learning, and product development. Familiarity with programming languages such as Scala, Go, or Java is necessary, along with experience in tools like Terraform, Helm, Kafka, CDC, Airflow, Prometheus, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
