About the position
The Technical Lead Manager (TLM) for Core Infrastructure at Eightfold is responsible for overseeing the architecture, maintenance, and enhancement of critical technology elements, including Search, Databases, Machine Learning Infrastructure, Data Warehouse, Developer Platform, and Application Infrastructure. This role is pivotal in ensuring the scalability, reliability, and security of the infrastructure that supports all Eightfold products, directly impacting user and customer experiences.
Responsibilities
- Architect and design highly scalable systems that meet quality, security, scalability, and availability standards.
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering growth and excellence.
- Collaborate with engineering leaders and cross-functional teams to resolve technical dependencies and align infrastructure development with strategic goals.
- Participate in the recruitment process to hire top talent and expand team capabilities.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and best practices, encouraging innovation and experimentation with new technologies.
- Manage the career growth and development of team members, preparing them for future leadership roles.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in architecting, designing, developing, and delivering highly scalable systems, particularly in cloud-scale distributed systems.
- Natural leadership abilities with experience in managing technical teams and mentoring engineers.
- Deep understanding of cloud environments (AWS, Azure), microservices architectures, and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for tackling complex distributed system issues.
- Strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Interest in growing into broader management roles overseeing multiple technology stacks.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with CloudOps and SRE principles.
- Familiarity with security standards for enterprise and government customers.
- Specialization in Database and Data Warehouse technologies, Application Infrastructure, Search Infrastructure, Big Data systems, Security, or developer infrastructure.
