About the position

The Staff Software Engineer at Ripple will play a crucial role in designing next-generation payment applications that facilitate instant cross-border payments, contributing to the creation of the Internet of Value. This position involves building enterprise-level distributed payment systems, driving cloud deployment, and ensuring high availability and resilience in payment processing. The role emphasizes technical leadership, collaboration with engineering teams, and the implementation of engineering excellence standards.

Responsibilities

• Build enterprise, distributed payment applications that complete settlement within seconds to enable the Internet of Value
• Prototype new solutions for sophisticated software problems and implement them for on-premise and cloud deployments and use cases
• Work with the wider engineering team on the design, deployment and continuous improvement of core products
• Be a technical domain authority, provide technical leadership and share your expertise with a growing team of engineers
• Continuously raise our standard of engineering excellence by implementing and driving standard processes for coding, testing, and deployment

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on Software Development experience on large scale distributed systems
• 5-7+ years of experience in Java
• 2+ years experience working as a tech lead
• Experience in building transactional systems, preferably in payments, banking, or e-commerce domains, backed by an RDBMS (PostgreSQL, Oracle or MS SQL Server)
• Experience with Agile development of distributed services, focusing on robust software design, scalability, and security
• Ability to encourage and drive engineering standard methodologies
• A positive demeanor and a passion for sharing knowledge
