About the position

Peloton E-commerce Engineering is seeking a Staff Engineer to develop the new V2 of its subscription infrastructure, a critical area generating over $1 billion in annual revenue. This role involves significant coding and focuses on transitioning from a monolithic architecture to an event-driven service-oriented architecture. The Staff Engineer will collaborate with various engineering teams and stakeholders, emphasizing kindness and teamwork while simplifying complex systems and ensuring quality delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Motivate and drive a continuous performance-based culture within the team.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional team members from Design, Product, Program Management, and UX to meet quarterly and annual roadmap objectives.
  • Instill a culture of automation, re-use, and engineering efficiency through software design patterns and commercial tools.
  • Identify multi-functional dependencies and remove blockers across engineering, design, and product management.
  • Enable and sustain a culture of open communication and collaboration across the organization.
  • Achieve timely delivery without compromising quality.

Requirements

  • Fluency with Kotlin.
  • Substantial team-lead experience delivering event-driven microservices/SOA at scale.
  • Deep understanding of complex digital subscription products and their challenges.
  • Exposure to step functions, state machines, and/or Temporal workflows is preferred.
  • Experience with GitHub actions.
  • Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders such as accounting/finance and customer support.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and incorporating test automation into development flows.
  • Ability to mediate between competing product and technical priorities.
