About the position

The Data Engineer position at VIZIO involves designing, building, and launching data extraction, transformation, and loading processes in a production environment. The role requires managing large-scale data operations, ensuring data quality, privacy, and compliance, while also addressing operational challenges related to data infrastructure. The successful candidate will work with a variety of technologies and platforms, primarily within AWS, to optimize existing processes and develop new data models.

Responsibilities

• Independently design, build and launch new data extraction, transformation and loading processes in production.
• Identify the data needed for a business problem and implement logging required to ensure availability of data.
• Work with data infrastructure to triage issues and resolve them.
• Build data expertise and leverage data controls to ensure privacy, security, compliance, data quality, and operations for allocated areas of ownership.
• Design, build and launch new data models.
• Support existing processes running in production and implement optimized solutions with limited guidance.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a data engineer or in a similar role.
• Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
• Good experience in Python, Scala, SQL, and AWS.
• Experience with Big Data platforms such as Databricks, EMR, and Hadoop.
• Experience with Map-Reduce and/or Spark computing frameworks (Pyspark).
• Hands-on experience with SQL database design and ETL tools/scripts.
• Great numerical and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Degree in Computer Science, IT, or similar field; a Master's is a plus.
