About the position

CT Consultants, a Verdantas Company, is seeking a talented Structural Engineer I to join our innovative and growing team in Cleveland, OH. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about engineering and are looking to contribute to award-winning projects and inspired solutions. As a Structural Engineer, you will play a crucial role in formulating and developing complete structural engineering designs for a variety of structures, including municipal, industrial, commercial, institutional, and retail buildings. You will be responsible for ensuring that designs comply with building codes and effectively determine load capacities for both new and existing structures. In this team-oriented position, you will be expected to perform site observations, collect necessary information, and write detailed reports that provide clients with insights on potential solutions for various field situations and conditions. You will also prepare construction documents for simple projects, which includes compiling general notes, typical details, layout of plans, and specifications with minimal guidance from senior personnel. Your ability to review shop drawings, coordinate with construction documents, and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) will be essential in keeping projects on schedule. The ideal candidate will have experience in steel, masonry, and concrete design, along with the ability to monitor project budgets and the performance of both internal and external technical support services. Responsibilities

  • Working knowledge and understanding of the building codes with the ability to find the information quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to compile the necessary information from the building code used to determine load capacities for the design of the structure
  • Team position that serves as technical designer formulating and developing complete structural engineering building designs
  • Responsible for the structural design of municipal, industrial, commercial, institutional, and retail structures, including new buildings and non-building structures, and additions or renovations to existing buildings and non-building structures
  • Ability to determine load capacities of new and existing structures
  • Perform site observations and collect the necessary information to perform calculations and write detailed reports to provide to the client with insight on possible solutions for different scenarios related to field situations & conditions
  • Prepare construction documents for simple projects including compiling the general notes, typical details, layout of plans & construction documents along with specifications, and complete designs for projects with minimal guidance from senior level personnel
  • Ability to review shop drawings and coordinate with the construction documents, and answer RFIs from the field while keeping the project on schedule
  • Experience in steel, masonry, and concrete design
  • Monitor project budgets, as well as the performance of internal and external technical support services

Requirements

  • 1-4 years of related work experience
  • Candidate should possess EIT certification and be working towards obtaining their Professional Engineer License
  • Software skills should include working knowledge of structural design software - RAM Structural Systems, RAM Concept, RISA
  • Modeling / drafting experience in Revit is a plus
  • Must be able to work with others in a team environment
