About the position

C&I Engineering is looking for a talented and driven individual to join our team as a Staff Structural Engineer. This position is a full-time role within the Civil/Structural team, which is responsible for structural designs in various facilities, including refineries, distilleries, and consumer packaging facilities. As an employee-owned, full-service engineering design firm, C&I provides engineering, design, project management, and procurement services to clients in the oil & gas, food & beverage, and distilled spirits industries. The Staff Structural Engineer will play a crucial role in helping the company achieve its mission by contributing to the design and execution of complex engineering projects. In this role, the Staff Structural Engineer will prepare computer analyses and calculations, initiate discussions within the project team to arrive at design solutions that provide the best value for limited construction costs, and prepare complete design packages that include construction scope of work for complex projects. The engineer will also research national and local codes, interpret grey areas, and recommend appropriate designs to meet requirements. Additionally, the Staff Structural Engineer will develop subcontract scopes, compile team needs for field investigations and testing, and contact clients independently to obtain information or resolve design issues. The Senior Structural Engineer will monitor and report progress against engineering schedules and budgets, ensuring that designs are constructible and understanding construction techniques, limitations, and relative costs.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares computer analyses and calculations.
  • Initiates discussion within the project team to arrive at design solutions that give the best value for a limited constructed cost.
  • Prepares complete design packages, including construction scope of work, for complex projects that meet design intents and customer expectations.
  • Research national and local codes, interprets grey areas and recommends appropriate designs to meet requirements.
  • Develops subcontract scopes including compiling team needs for field investigation and testing, including surveys, laser scanning, geotechnical reports, and exploratory excavations.
  • Contacts clients independently to obtain information or resolve design issues.
  • Identifies work opportunities with existing clients.
  • Monitors and reports progress against engineering schedules and budgets, taking corrective actions to meet the plan.
  • Ensures designs are constructible with appropriate support.
  • Understands construction techniques, limitations, and relative costs.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a four-year ABET accredited college with 10 years of related experience.
  • Graduation from a four-year ABET accredited engineering technology college with 12 years of related experience.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Technology.
  • PE is strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
