About the position

The Supercharger Service Engineering team is seeking a seasoned Product Engineer to lead the North American growth of the Supercharger Network. This role focuses on maintaining and improving the uptime of the global Supercharger network while supporting its unprecedented scaling. The successful candidate will leverage data analytics and first principles to proactively identify and resolve issues within the Supercharger fleet, ensuring an optimal customer experience through collaboration with global teams.

Responsibilities

  • Drive cross-functional efforts and initiatives to implement fleet improvements with the manufacturing, design, field service, and technical support teams.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow engineers into global product engineering experts.
  • Work with the wider engineering and manufacturing teams to drive design and manufacturing product improvements in both existing and future products.
  • Collaborate with field service and technical support teams to create documentation and training for field commissioning and service actions.
  • Utilize remote data analysis and fleet analytics to solve problems, including lab work and onsite investigations as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and root cause hardware, software, and firmware issues of the global Supercharger network.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with product engineering, reliability engineering, failure analysis, systems test engineering, or product quality engineering.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, Spark, and Python.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals and intuition applied to firmware/software/hardware of connected systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with hands-on experience debugging complex systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cross-functionally in a collaborative manner across many teams.
  • Exceptional capacity for managing simultaneous tasks and challenges.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including to leadership and executive levels.

  • Experience with charging standards is a plus.
