About the position

In this role, you will be responsible for driving the maintenance, deployment, and monitoring of the Linux OS image utilized by the Intelligent Store Services (Point Of Sale) organization. This image is critical for running client applications on registers that our customers use. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing enhancements to this image to ensure it meets all current organizational mandates and requirements. You will work closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to empower team members, stores, and merchants through technological innovation. This includes a focus on enhancing customer experience, in-store service, merchant tools, data science, and personalization. You will be tasked with building, maintaining, and installing Ubuntu OS images across the store and club chain. This involves collaborating with your team to establish an alerting infrastructure that allows for real-time monitoring and response to any issues that arise. As part of a DevOps team, you will lead discussions with other technology experts to enhance the OS image in alignment with business and security requirements. Additionally, you will utilize Tanium Client Management software for effective OS and patch management throughout the store and club chain. Responsibilities

  • Drive the maintenance, deployment, and monitoring of the Linux OS image for the Intelligent Store Services organization.
  • Design and implement enhancements to the Linux OS image to meet organizational mandates and requirements.
  • Build, maintain, and install Ubuntu OS images to POS registers throughout the store/club chain.
  • Establish an alerting infrastructure for real-time monitoring of the OS image.
  • Collaborate with team members and lead discussions with technology experts to enhance the OS image for business and security needs.
  • Utilize Tanium Client Management software for OS and patch management.

Requirements

  • Deep and broad working knowledge of Linux and OS internals.
  • Hands-on experience with maintaining Linux installations, preferably at scale.
  • Strong working experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, and Bash.
  • Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and related software tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Concord.
  • Experience with developing solutions around tools such as Ansible, OpenStack, Chef, Puppet, and Tanium Client Management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, information technology, or related area.
  • 2 years of relevant experience in configuration management and developing automation for Provisioning and Orchestration.
  • Experience developing and managing service-level objectives (SLOs) and service level indicators (SLIs) for Infrastructure Service availability and performance.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and experience implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards.
