About the position

The Senior Systems Engineer for Motor Control & Drive at Qorvo Texas LLC is responsible for defining and supporting new motor control and drive solutions across various markets, including industrial, consumer, and automotive sectors. This role requires a hands-on approach to system-level solution development, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and the generation of technical documentation to support product development and customer engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Define system level solutions and drive development taking inputs from customers, application engineers and sales teams
  • Work with customers, marketing, and sales teams to define motor control & driver solutions including product architecture, specifications, system requirements, and product competition analysis
  • Collaborate with IC design teams to develop internal specifications for new products
  • Work with test and characterization engineers to develop a thorough characterization and production test solution
  • Generate datasheets, user guides, application notes, customer presentations, white papers, and training material

Requirements

  • MSEE degree in electrical, mechanical, computer, medical or physics and 10+ years related work experience
  • Product definition experience with track record
  • Control systems knowledge for motor drive, motor control, power conversion, and wide band-gap applications (SiC & GaN)
  • Experience in applications with BLDC/PMSM motors for industrial, automotive, and consumer applications
  • Familiar with Field Oriented Control and Trapezoidal BLDC/PMSM motor control algorithms
  • Deep understanding of gate driver solutions for 3 phase BLDC motors
  • Experience with DC/DC power conversion using switching regulators for isolated and non-isolated topologies
  • PCB Design and layout (Altium), Mathematical and circuit simulation (Matlab, Simulink, SPICE)
  • Attention to detail, strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate complex technical concepts to different audiences with varying level of technical understanding
  • Experience with microcontrollers is a plus, especially Arm Cortex M series including modules such as ADC, PLL, Oscillators, I2C, SPI, UART, and Flash
  • Microcontroller firmware development experience also a plus
