About the position

The Staff Systems Engineer will lead the development and integration of customized systems for the Launch and Test Range System (LTRS) at Cocoa Beach, FL, supporting National Security, Civil, and Commercial payloads. This role involves translating system requirements into secure architectures, driving innovation, and ensuring efficient operations in an agile environment. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance acquisition processes and modernize launch ranges to accommodate increasing launch services.

Responsibilities

  • Identify new range system solutions and integrate efficiencies in alignment with range objectives.
  • Coordinate transition and integration requirements for successful operational baseline transitions.
  • Perform engineering of system architectures, requirements analysis, and system performance testing.
  • Conduct engineering analyses to predict and define problems, and implement corrective measures for Launch Range and Network systems.
  • Support system and subsystem requirements, architecture, and risk management products.
  • Engage in project life cycle activities including acquisition, design reviews, integration, testing, and operational turnover.
  • Collaborate with developers, contractors, and government counterparts.
  • Track requirements to subsystems, generate documentation, and validate design compliance with requirements.
  • Participate or lead technical meetings and government-led studies, ensuring project modifications meet requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology, or equivalent experience with 7 years in the industry.
  • Experience with requirements traceability, system-of-systems integration and testing, and test planning.
  • Technical skills for analyzing system problems, conducting root cause analysis, and performing schedule risk assessments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Active DOD Secret clearance required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or demonstrated experience.
  • Experience with Radar, Area and RF Surveillance, and/or Optical instrumentation and systems.
  • Working knowledge of Eastern and/or Western Launch Ranges.
  • Engineering experience with Launch and Test Range Systems (LTRS), IP Networks, and Range of the Future (ROTF).
  • Cyber, technical, or project-related certifications such as CISSP, CSEP, or PMP.
