About the position

The Systems Engineering Test Lead at Northrop Grumman is responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team of engineers in the definition, planning, and execution of methodologies to test, verify, and validate system requirements. This role involves driving the test effort while also participating in other systems engineering activities throughout the program lifecycle to ensure the delivery of a fully mission-capable product to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Support program technical execution in accordance with Northrop Grumman Systems Engineering processes and best practices
  • Develop test and verification strategies that help minimize program cost and technical risk
  • Define test and verification methods, events, and constraints for all requirements; develop and manage the overall Program Test Plan
  • Provide technical oversight to integration & test (I&T) efforts to ensure that the overall I&T program will adequately confirm requirement compliance
  • Design test and validation approaches to ensure the system fulfills its operational objectives and stakeholder requirements in its intended operational setting
  • Work with customer and program leadership to coordinate, schedule, and ensure readiness to perform test events
  • Execute test verification and analyze results against established criteria to determine if the system being examined is compliant
  • Utilize systems engineering database tools and software to manage test results and artifacts in accordance with contractual requirements
  • Support final system sell-off of the completed verification and validation program to the customer
  • Lead by example and be willing to mentor, coach, train, guide, direct and advise teammates

Requirements

  • B.S. in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or related area and 12 years of experience; M.S. in STEM or related area and 10 years of experience
  • Must have US Citizenship with current or active Top Secret/SCI Clearance at time of application
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering principles and practices

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in engineering, physics, or computer science
  • Possess strong leadership qualities, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working on spacecraft ground and mission systems
  • Experience in system architecture, CONOPs development, or model-based system engineering
  • Experience with various technical tools such as MATLAB, STK, CORE, DOORS, or CAMEO
  • Experience in orbital mechanics, mission modeling, spacecraft attitude control, or spacecraft integration and testing
  • Experience with Mission Operations for spacecraft
  • Experience in scripting languages (e.g. Python, STOL, VBA etc)
