About the position

Broadcom seeks a deadline-driven results-oriented experienced technical editor to join our Corporate Marketing Technical Publications team located in either Colorado or California. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with writers, content developers, and engineers across all business units to produce quality documentation delivered to Broadcom customers. The technical editor rewrites, edits, formats, produces graphics, and prepares technical documentation to meet the needs of Broadcom customers based on business unit requirements. On a day-to-day basis, the Technical Editor successfully prioritizes multiple tasks and assignments to meet company quality standards and tight deadlines. This position involves working closely with the company's technical writers, content developers, and engineers to ensure that documentation meets quality standards and is ready for publication. The Technical Editor must be able to review and edit documentation in a variety of formats, including data sheets, product briefs, online help, reference manuals, and user guides. The team's objectives include creating documentation and content that will best support deployment and usability of Broadcom's products. Responsibilities also include ensuring that documentation is properly edited, rewritten, is clear and concise as well as authenticated, while meeting the required deadlines set by the business units in alignment with new product introductions and product updates.

Responsibilities

  • Rewrite, edit, and format technical documentation to meet business unit requirements.
  • Produce graphics for technical documentation as needed.
  • Collaborate with technical writers, content developers, and engineers to ensure documentation quality.
  • Review and edit documentation in various formats including data sheets, product briefs, online help, reference manuals, and user guides.
  • Prioritize multiple tasks and assignments to meet quality standards and deadlines.
  • Ensure documentation is clear, concise, and properly authenticated before publication.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a BA/BS in Technical Communications, Journalism, English or Communications.
  • 8+ years of experience as a technical editor or technical writer.
  • Good understanding of technical documentation standards and production/publishing processes.
  • Familiarity with information architecture/design best practices.
  • Proficiency in FrameMaker, Word, InDesign, Visio, Adobe Illustrator, XML editor, and Adobe PDF.
  • Experience with a content management system and with XML DITA is desired.
  • Experience with producing graphics is required.
  • Knowledge of the semiconductor industry or electronics is a plus.

  • Experience with content management systems.
