About the position

The Staff Technical Program Manager at Rivian will be a key member of the Technical Program Management team, focusing on driving hardware-related aspects for the Future Programs team. This role involves collaboration with product, hardware, and software engineering teams to ensure successful hardware development and integration into Rivian's production environment. The position requires strong partnerships across various stakeholders from concept to production, emphasizing the importance of effective communication and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multi-disciplinary hardware projects from start to finish, managing critical hardware workstreams including electrical, mechanical, test, and industrial design.
  • Plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and make decisions to unblock development.
  • Drive the planning and implementation of customer features with cross-functional teams to meet roadmap goals.
  • Develop and manage program schedules, technical issues, design release management, and resource needs with engineering and cross-functional teams.
  • Communicate progress/status with stakeholders and leadership across various locations and time zones.
  • Identify and solve top program blockers and adapt lean processes to the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • 5+ years of experience in program management, product management, engineering, or a similar cross-functional role.
  • Track record of taking consumer electronics, vehicles, or similar hardware devices from concept to launch through the product development process.
  • Experience managing design releases, validation test plans, build execution, and supply chain management.
  • Proficiency with program management software tools (e.g., JIRA, Smartsheets, Agile/Arena).
  • Ability to understand technical challenges while driving actionable outcomes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the automotive industry or with electric vehicles.
  • Familiarity with agile project management methodologies.
