About the position

The Staff Technical Program Manager at Affirm will oversee high-visibility programs, streamline processes for product development, and coordinate with both engineering and non-engineering teams. This role is crucial for managing program schedules and risks while leveraging domain knowledge to propose technical alternatives and engage with upper management to achieve program goals. The position aims to enhance the development of customer and merchant products as the company scales its operations.

Responsibilities

  • Drive complex, multi-disciplinary, and highly visible technical programs to expand consumer product suite and platform capabilities.
  • Coordinate across engineering teams and non-engineering stakeholders throughout the full program lifecycle to plan requirements, identify risks, manage program schedules, and communicate with cross-functional partners.
  • Understand technical implementation at the architecture level and propose technical alternatives, clarifying priorities and pushing the team to be effective.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to plan requirements, identify risks, manage program schedules, and communicate with cross-functional partners.
  • Track progress, resolve dependencies, evaluate risks, and communicate status to upper management and program stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of proven experience managing technical programs.
  • Passion and drive to change consumer finance for the better.
  • Organized and strategic approach to collaborating across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong attention to detail while ensuring timely delivery of projects.
  • Experience in driving strategic programs and building a remote-friendly culture.
  • Ability to mentor and develop team members.
  • Track record of successfully managing complex large technology applications and geographically distributed backend systems.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with Engineering, Product, Design, Analytics, and other cross-functional teams.
