Confluent is looking for an expert Technical Writer to help document Confluent, a more complete distribution of the Apache Kafka distributed streaming platform. We are looking for a writer with a passion for technology and communication. You will make it easy for developers to build a streaming platform and put it at the heart of every company.

Responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Support, and more to create world-class developer documentation that ensures customer success.
  • Produce documentation with unified examples, consistent style, and jaw-dropping quality.
  • As a key member of the Product organization, be a user advocate that informs product and feature development.

Requirements

  • 10+ years experience writing technical documentation for an external developer audience.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a modern documentation toolchain, including GitHub experience.
  • Experience using Markdown, reStructuredText, or equivalent.
  • Experience reading code in languages such as Java or Python.
  • Experience using or documenting distributed systems technologies.
  • Proven track record of coming up with systematic solutions that others can utilize to efficiently build other experiences that feel cohesive.
  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science, Learning Technology, or related field.

  • Demonstrated portfolio of work that sets the bar for technical documentation.
  • Mastery of docs DevOps processes and tooling.
