About the position

Confluent is seeking an expert Technical Writer to contribute to the documentation of Confluent, a comprehensive distribution of the Apache Kafka distributed streaming platform. This role is pivotal in ensuring that developers can easily build and utilize a streaming platform that is central to modern data-driven organizations. The Technical Writer will work closely with various teams, including Engineering, Product, and Support, to create high-quality developer documentation that enhances customer success. The ideal candidate will have a wealth of experience in technical writing, particularly for external developer audiences, and will be adept at using modern documentation tools and practices. Responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Support, and other teams to create world-class developer documentation.
  • Produce documentation with unified examples, consistent style, and high quality.
  • Act as a user advocate within the Product organization to inform product and feature development.

Requirements

  • 10+ years experience writing technical documentation for an external developer audience.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a modern documentation toolchain, including experience with GitHub.
  • Experience using Markdown, reStructuredText, or equivalent documentation formats.
  • Experience reading code in languages such as Java or Python.
  • Experience using or documenting distributed systems technologies.
  • Proven track record of developing systematic solutions for cohesive documentation experiences.
  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science, Learning Technology, or a related field.
