About the position

Confluent is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to document its distribution of the Apache Kafka streaming platform. This role is crucial for creating high-quality developer documentation that enhances customer success and supports product development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical writing, a passion for technology, and the ability to collaborate with various teams to produce cohesive and effective documentation.

Responsibilities

• Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Support, and more to create world-class developer documentation that ensures customer success.
• Produce documentation with unified examples, consistent style, and jaw-dropping quality.
• Act as a user advocate that informs product and feature development.

Requirements

• 10+ years experience writing technical documentation for an external developer audience.
• Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a modern documentation toolchain, including GitHub experience.
• Experience using Markdown, reStructuredText, or equivalent.
• Experience reading code in languages such as Java or Python.
• Experience using or documenting distributed systems technologies.
• Proven track record of coming up with systematic solutions that others can utilize to efficiently build cohesive experiences.
• Bachelor's Degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science, Learning Technology, or related field.
