About the position

As a Staff UX Designer at SoFi, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of personal finance through innovative design. Your primary responsibility will be to conceptualize, define, and lead new initiatives across both mobile and web platforms. This role requires a strong design point of view and aesthetic, as well as the ability to collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including Research, Product Management, and Engineering teams. You will be expected to communicate your ideas clearly and effectively, ensuring that your design solutions are user-centered and based on thorough research and member insights. In this position, you will also be responsible for presenting your work at all levels of the organization, from project teams to senior leadership. Your ability to advocate for user needs in the context of business and technology drivers will be crucial. You will work to develop design solutions that not only meet user needs but also align with industry best practices. Additionally, you will mentor other designers within the organization, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence. SoFi is experiencing significant growth and has ambitious plans for the future. As a Staff Designer, you will be at the forefront of this transformation, driving new initiatives and ensuring a consistent and high-quality user experience across the SoFi ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, define and lead new initiatives across mobile and web platforms
  • Collaborate closely with Research, Product Management, and Engineering partners to iterate and drive programs forward
  • Communicate clearly and effectively
  • Develop user-centered design solutions based on research, member insights, and industry best-practices
  • Present work at all levels -- from project team to leadership
  • Collaborate with other product designers working on other projects to drive alignment and consistency across the entire user experience

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience working in product design/UX roles
  • Strong design point of view and aesthetic
  • Strong expertise in common design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Expertise in mobile and web UX best practices across iOS, Android, and responsive web
  • Strong collaboration skills across cross-functional teams including research, product management, engineering, and marketing
  • Ability to translate user research, user needs, and product data to make informed design solutions
  • Track record for delivering end-to-end solutions from initial concepts to measurable outcomes
  • Experience presenting work and rationale to senior leadership and advocating for user needs in the context of business and technology drivers
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, agile environment using tools like Jira and Confluence
  • A portfolio URL or PDF to submit with application with examples of mobile and responsive web product design
